Learning

I feel that everyone is capable of expressing him/herself musically regardless of the amount of time you have been playing or your skill level. I have been amazed at the compositions of children who have only played a few months as well as the improvisations of thoroughly trained classical musicians who were previously convinced that they were too afraid to improvise a note. I work with people to figure out where they are musically and where they want to go. Everyone has a different way of learning and different goals. Once we ease into your particular style we can expand the parameters of your experience and move toward your musical goals, which, of course, can be fluid, or even non-existent at the moment. I believe that in the right environment, a safe environment, one free of elitism (don’t get me started!) and critical expectation, one can sink into the delicious well of music that is everyone’s birthright.
